Getting Ready For Change

What's around the corner for the world? How do we best get ready for whatever shit is about to hit the fan?

VULNERABLE - THINK GLOBAL

The more we rely on the industrial, commercial world to supply our needs, the more vulnerable we are to its inevitable, (already happening), collapse. If you have to buying something from a source outside your local community that makes you vulnerable to disconnection from that source. So we in the industrial world, including myself, are mostly buying in food, energy, goods, healthcare, entertainment and more, and are reliant on a whole network of transport of physical goods, energy, and information. How could the whole voracious planet gobbling machine keep on going indefinitely? It's surely not difficult to imagine the whole thing falling apart, as easily as those internet cables have been severed...

GETTING READY - THE FUTURE'S LOCAL

Think of those things you buy, start growing some food, use much less energy. Every time you buy something think, do I really need it? Could I make it? Repair one? Grow it? Learn simple hand tool skills, design things to be made locally from local materials, learn about food preserving, make friends and get together to manage a plot of land for food, medicinal herbs and materials.

DON'T BE DISTRACTED...

It's easy to fixate on all these hideous monsters in positions of power, but when one of these ghastly, corrupt sacks of orange shit dies off or is deposed there'll be another one, probably even worse, who's probably been guiding things all along, waiting in the wings to take over. Sensible progress from the industrial way isn't going to be led top down, it's up to individuals, you and me to make the changes in our own lives that we would like to see. What is a government anyway but a collection of individuals?
